Paul,

Good to know and you're welcome. I hadn't thought about the version number.

Maybe this is what I get for skimming and NOT reading.

I discovered that I was running 3.8.1 and it needs 4.0.4 to work successfully. Upgraded and now it works like a charm.

thanks again for your tutorial.

Greg! You are the man! Thank you so much for your step-by-step tutorial.

I am however having an error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: quotejsvalue() in /public_html/typo3conf/ext/static_info_tables/pi1/class.tx_staticinfotables_pi1.php on line 195

have you seen this before?

I'm running:

TYPO3 3.8.0
Static Info Tables 2.0.2
New Front end Login Box 3.0.0
Frontend User Registration 2.5.5

any tips could help.

cool thanks Greg for the help. I must say this site is the most helpful for newcomers to typo3. I'll have a fiddle around and see if i can get this to work. I understand the time it takes to develop these type of tutorials and time is precious.
If I get stuck i think a donation is a fair enough request. At least the setup can be firmly documented and it doesn't have to be developed in flash either.

I'm accepting donations

Seriously, as soon as I can free up a 6-8 hours stretch of time. This is not a stop and go process for me. The last time I started and stopped I never finished the tutorial and since the demo TYPO3 installation I was using doesn't exist anymore I need to start over.

The problem with this particular extension is there are 64 configuration options and creating a tutorial that simplifies navigating through these option choices and choosing a basic setup once everything is in place in the Constant Editor is not a fun excersise. I'll see what time I have this weekend maybe to continue extending the Zen Light Pro Template Setup tutorials to include this setup.

This is my current configuration for http://mediatech.net/registration.html.

the first 2 flash tutorials are great and with the 3rd flash tutorial (feuser_registration) you would have a complete package. Thanks, Dan

Hello,
Firstly, let me just express my appreciation of these templates. They're proving to be a great learning tool. Thank you, Mediatech.

But here's my problem and maybe someone can help a 'noob out:
I have followed the configuration steps listed in this thread as well as those listed in the sr_feuser_register 2.5.1 documentation as well. Everything works (register, confirm email, confirm) up to the point of the login after confirmation. Looking at the backend, no user is written to either group. However, registration fields are being saved to the database. I assume this because I can not register different users with the same fields, i.e., username, first_name, last_name, email. So I'm wondering if this is a shared hosting issue, an installation issue or simply a matter of permissions set on the FEUser Sysfolder.

Here's some details of my installation:
Server: Shared Plan on Dreamhost (Debian, I believe)
Typo3 version: 4.02
Relevant extensions: sr_feuser_register 2.5.1
newloginbox 3.0.1
static_info_tables 2.0.0
css_styled_content 0.3.1
Maybe relevant: templavoila 0.4.0

Any help in this matter will be most appreciated as this extension is critical to the site's architecture. Thank you. Gernot

you don't say which version of typo you are using.

to put a static template in.

in your root page

click templates on left column
top right - change to info/modify
then - click here to edit whole template record
scroll down to - Include static (from extensions):

should be there.

install it
clear all caches

hope this helps

Cheers Stan

I had been trying to install the Front End User Registration sr_feuser_register extension and came accross this problem:

Warning:
main(/home/brentadv/public_html/typo3conf/ext/static_info_tables/pi1/class.tx_staticinfotables_pi1.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/brentadv/public_html/typo3conf/ext/sr_feuser_register/pi1/class.tx_srfeuserregister_pi1.php on line 43

I have installed static_info_tables BTW

It was then pointed out to me that I had to create the page:

/home/brentadv/public_html/typo3conf/ext/static_info_tables/pi1/class.tx_staticinfotables_pi1.php

Which I thought I had - the problem being now is I am not sure what I am supposed to put in that page.

The error has now changed to:

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class:
tx_staticinfotables_pi1 in /home/brentadv/public_html/typo3_src/t3lib/class.t3lib_div.php on line 3913

I still have a lot of dumb questions myself

Just keep sticking to it and TYPO3 will become easier and faster to use. Documentation will make more sense as you become more familiar with the system. It appears the documentation is more of a reference tool than a teaching tool.

To learn more about TYPO3 in general use the mailing lists. Often a Google search will pull up the results you need from these lists and other resources.

Hi, sorry for bothering, but I am getting desperate. I followed step-by-step instructions to get Front End User Registration working, but on my page appears:

Edit-option is not set in TypoScript

I am using :
TYPO3 4.0.1
Front End User Registration 2.3.6
Static info tables 2.0.0

Seems like Front End User Registration extension was not properly installed, because there are no constants in constant editor for this extension. I tried to reinstall it, but nothing happened.

Does anyone know where is the problem?

P.S. Please apologize my english.

I couldnt get it to work under v3.8. I upgraded to 4.0 and it worked instantly.

If I had known that earlier I could have solved myself some long nights.

I just thought I would mention that as I didn't see it mentioned previously in the thread.

I'm beginning to cut the tutorial tonight... walking through it and explaining everything is the time killer. Here's what I have for mediatech.net. In the Setup field I have changed the default language output. This requires finding the language file for all options.

In the following I have notifications sent to me when someone initiates his(her) registration but not confirms, deletes, etc. The visitor is required to validate email.

Considering the length of this thread and the importance of the extension a Flash tutrorial is in order.

I'll attempt to have one ready by this weekend... maybe sooner. Of course the last time I said this it was a week later. Just know it's coming soon... no, not like the Zen Grey template either

I'll shoot you an email when it's ready.

Hi, sorry if I’m waking up a dead topic. But, I have a huge problem with this Front End User Registration. I’m pretty new to Typo3, so please be gentle.

I’ve have tried to followed the step as good as possible. But the massage “Edit-option is not set in TypoScript “ is the only thing that shows up beside the login box.

When I go to the Template > [the root page] > Info/modify (dropdown box) > Constants
It look like this

---
plugin.feadmin.fe_users {
pid = 23
loginPID = 32
registerPID = 33
editPID = 34
confirmPID = 35
}
---

Besides that, I’m lost in step 32. I just want; username, e-mail and Name.

Sorry for my poor English, it’s not my main language.

Problem fixed !!!

The Registration page was a sub page to the Login page, which lead me to believe the user would never be linked to the correct page due to how the front end user (extension) configures the hyperlink that is sent to the Front end users email. Solution make every page the same level as the Login page.

On that note New issue, like most forms there is a requirement for agreeing to Terms and conditions of the website of form, anyone got any experience in creating the link if there is a function already in the front end user extension?

I recently I the same problem after upgrading the extension. The solution I found was to leave registerPID blank:

# cat=plugin.tx_srfeuserregister_pi1//; type=int+; label= Registration page PID: PID of the page on which the plugin is inserted with the intent of serving as the front end user registration page.
registerPID =

In fact I have left PIDs blank for the following Constants which appears to tell the extension to use the default PID it is installed on:

registerPID =
editPID =
confirmPID =
confirmInvitationPID =
confirmType =
loginPID =

Without knowing how you have your template contants setup I can't be much help. If you can give me access to your site and I fix the problem you will be invoiced $100.00 USD

This is what I do for a living. If you feel more comfortable giving me access to a test site (non production) that's fine. I handle a lot of sensitive information every day like credit card numbers, social security numbers, etc.

I got some problem, at the confirmation page, after i click on the "create account" button, i can see that from the backend that the user is created into the database immediately (into the place i wanted), the page that like several mins to redirect back to the same registration form (blank this time). And also, the confirmation mail seems to be sent only when certain conditions are met, not immediately when a new useruser register.

Can anyone give me some advice?

hello all,
I stuggled for a while with this extension.

Kristin
see if Enable Admin Review is set correcly in template constant.
0 = confirmation automaticly
1 = administrator needs to approve

code:
plugin.tx_srfeuserregister_pi1.enableAdminReview = 0

Double check if the PID and uid are set correctly.
This was the mistake I made. I used the wrong PID.

good luck.

The user gets changed to the confirmed group automatically once they have responded to the confirmation email. This is what happens when a user registers at mediatech.net.

Are you having troubles with the process?

Dear Schubert,

thank you for providing these easy to follow instructions for the fe user register extension.

at the moment the new user can register their details. an email is sent to the administrator to notify them of the new user and an email is sent to the new user with links to either confirm or reject the registration. in the backend a user is created in the users sys folder, assigned to the pending group and disabled.

when the user clicks on the confirmation link they are taken to the confirmation page which displays the link to the registration page. in the backend the user remains in the pending group and disabled. is this what is suppose to happen?

how does the user get changed to the confirmed group and enabled? is it automatic or does the administrator need to go in and do this?

thanks,

Kristin

The problem with much of the extension documentation is the author assumes the user already understands the basics of extension setup and configuration like pointing the extension to a folder containing database records needed for that extension.

The Getting Started document attempts to cover most of these general principles however it is a little overwhelming and confusing for most new to TYPO3. A reduction in information and a few updates here and there would make this documentation easier to digest.

That was my point. It doesn't say "Add to the constants of your Template plugin.tx_srfeuserregister_pi1.pid = 36" in the original How-To.
Leaving the complete newbie without a clue of how to add the pid=36 to anything.
However, the point is moot if Gregs graphical approach works as well...

You don't have to type anything in. It's all done using the graphic interface and Element Browser. Assuming you have the plugin installed like like shown in the first graphic below, you then point the plugin to your registered users (id=36) via the Element Browser.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Do I just enter id=36 somewhere?

I think that's it.. ...
Add to the constants of your Template plugin.tx_srfeuserregister_pi1.pid = 36
you can also find a field where you can edit the Front end user records PID is at the very bottom of theTemplate--->Constant editor

Yes ... but how do you get the id=36 into the TS Config. Do I just enter
id=36
somewhere?

(I know I don't, just making a point).

Anytime you place your mouse over a folder or page the folder/page ID will appear like this:

Fine so far ...

> 3. Set the TS template constant Front end user records PID to the page id of the Users sysfolder (hover the mouse cursor over the page to see its id > number)

How? The Step-by-Step doesn't say.
Depending on if it is supposed to be read by complete newbie it probably should.

This may be a Windows server related issue or not. Are you using the most current version of FE User Registration? Also you may want to post this at http://typo3.org/documentation/mailing-lists/english-main-list-archive/

Email should be running to your users w/ a link to click so that they are subscribed. Once they are subscribed then their status will be Unhide. Make a necessary changes in your template by going into Constant Editor or TS Object Browser, there u will find the name of this extension, click on plus sign. Fill out the email and name where it should be running.
1) Left pane, Template, Middle Pane, top most folder (below ur globe), third pane, that drop down menu...choose Constant Editor or TS Object Browser.......Then find the name of this extension....
2) Click on + sign, there you will be able to change the email or name or some other necessary changes regarding that extension.

Awesome job!!! The registered users are added to the website user group Pending once they have completed the form.

I have one small problem though.

1) How can I send a email message to the newly registered users so that they can confirm their registration in the Users System Folder.The email message should have instructions to unhide the users in the Users System folder automatically.

Thanx
Typo3 Newbie.

First click on Web > List. List allows you to create and see records. In this case you will be creating 2 new user group records.

Now simply click on Website usergroup and Title the group name Pending or whatever you like.

Hi Schubert/All,

"4. Set up two groups in the Users Sysfolder called Pending and Confirmed."

How do you create two groups in that Users Sysfolder? sorry for my silly question.

Thanks!!!

I seem to have skipped step 3 on my site. I believe pointing the plugin to the sysfolder containing your FE groups and users does the same thing.
