Maybe it would be an idea to build an extension that gives default options for every content item:
1. show through subpages with level selection
2. exclude on pages
3. show only on selected pages

Sure it brings up ordering question, but maybe it could be solved like:
1. show as first
2. show as last
3. and one more option would be virtual content element just for ordering, shown in every page

Basically it's content element linking but in verse direction from one content item to all pages.

Would give lot more options to portal administrators who certainly can do extensions settings but not TypoScript.

I think those options would find warm welcome in Typo3 core.

I'm afraid the only solution may be via TypoScript marker or TemplaVoila to pull content from content elements or database tables.

For news items you can configure the news plugin on each page to pull from a selected category using the GUI. Other extensions work like this too.

If you need to hide the extension or content element on certain pages the only way I know how is through user and group permissions.

It's also possible to setup an extension as a content element and copy/paste your configured extension using List View for multiple pages so you don't have to go through the task of setting up each new instance of that extension separately.

anyone knows how to show content on subpages and or selected pages without using ext templates.

Maybe someone has seen extension that adds feature selecting options for a content element so it will be seen only on certain pages or subpages?

It is really needed feature for portals where different content is shown on different subpages, sidebar news by categories etc. Administrators won't mess around with typoscript. Creating new sections in big websites wouldbe lot easier that way.
